Wix Premium Plans

Wix features one free plan with branding and ads, four paid plans with set pricing, plus an Enterprise level plan for large companies, with price on application. Each Wix pricing plan comes with a set of unique features, but the most striking benefit is that all tiers, including the free plan, offer some degree of marketing capability. Let’s first take a look at the plans.

Lite Core Business Business Elite
Monthly Price $16 $33 $49 $179
Storage 2GB 50GB 100GB Unlimited
Custom Domain and No Ads
Marketing Suite Light Basic Standard Advanced
Site analytics Basic
Customer Support Available 24/7 Available 24/7 Available 24/7 Priority support available

Wix Lite Plan ($16 per month)

Key Features What’s Missing?
Supports a custom domain No e-commerce features
Removes Wix ads No site analytics
24/7 customer support Limited storage space

The Wix Lite plan is the first of Wix’s paid plans. This $16 per month plan is designed for personal use or sole traders. It includes a custom domain that helps build your brand’s credibility, a free domain for one year, 2GB of storage space and 30 minutes of video.

The Lite plan also removes Wix ads that appear in the free plan and comes with 24/7 customer care. This plan looks more professional than the free plan and is perfect for portfolios, CVs and personal websites.

Wix Core Plan ($33 per month)

Key Features What’s Missing?
50 GB storage space Only 5 hours of video
5 collaborators No priority customer care
Basic e-commerce Only basic site analytics

The next step up is Wix’s Core plan, which is geared towards entrepreneurs and freelancers. At $33 per month, users get everything in the Lite plan plus a free year of the Site Booster app that will help your website to rank in search, and tools to build your logo in 40 different sizes for various social media formats.

But storage and video is where upgraders to Core will really notice the difference from Lite.  This plan takes the amount of storage space from 2GB to 50GB and upgrades video time from 30 minutes to five hours.

Wix Business Plan ($49 per month)

Key Features What’s Missing?
100GB of storage Limited storage
E-commerce No priority customer service
10 collaborators Only standard marketing suite

Wix advertises the Business plan as its ‘recommended’ premium plan. At $49 a month, the plan includes all the features of the Core plan with an upgrade to 100GB of storage space and 10 hours of video.

While it is good value for money at only $16 more than the previous plan per month for the benefits of so much extra storage space and video time, it doesn’t come with priority support, only 24/7 customer care, which may be a draw card for high-traffic blogs. Instead, this plan may be better suited towards small businesses looking to expand their online presence before investing more money.

Wix Business Elite Plan ($179 per month)

Key Features What’s Missing?
Unlimited storage Custom SSL
Advanced marketing suite Expensive monthly price
15 collaborators No dedicated account manager

The new Wix Business Elite plan is the best and priciest of the paid plans at $179 a month. For those easily frustrated with technical issues, the plan includes priority customer care, which allows you to skip the queue for VIP telephone support. This is especially valuable for busy entrepreneurs who do not want to waste time ‘on hold’.

Unlimited drop shipping is also available, as is the ability to collect and post customer reviews and offer 10 additional currencies for global transactions. Most of all, storage and video is unlimited.

The large amount of storage space and priority one-on-one help make it a great option for growing businesses who attract significant business.

In addition to the Business Elite Plan, there is one higher tier, called an Enterprise Plan, which offers a price on request. The hallmark of this plan is the dedicated account manager,  the custom SSL certificate (not available on other plans), multi-site management platform, custom templates and integrations, and product training. As you may have guessed this tier is usually reserved for larger-scale businesses.

Wix's Premium Plans: What's Included

Wix has streamlined its premium plan offer into four tiers, plus an Enterprise level, thereby reducing the number of options down from eight. While previously only the Ascend Premium plan offered marketing tools—think lead-capture forms, social media marketing and automations—now all premium plans have this suite of capabilities. You can send up to 200 emails a month, or, if you require more than this quota, you can buy a standalone email marketing package.

The entirely new Business Elite tier is designed for high-traffic and larger businesses, and at $179 per month, is a step up in cost from the other premium plans. It offers an advanced developer platform, designed for data-heavy businesses that manage a lot of traffic (or a lot of their clients’ traffic.)

Wix Free Plan

Unlike many website builders, Wix offers a free plan. The plan includes up to 500MB of storage and bandwidth and online customer support. Users can still create a stunning website with this plan, but there is no custom domain name and Wix ads will appear on every page.

Nevertheless, it is one of the best free website builders on the market and a good option for those wanting to dip their toe into website creation before committing to a paid service. You can read more in our complete guide to the best free website builders for Australians.

Wix Domain Cost

The monthly cost for a paid Wix plan only covers website hosting so a custom domain name will cost extra. Domain prices per year vary depending on the type of domain extension, the length of your term, the level of privacy protection and your local currency.

However, if you sign up for one of the yearly paid plans, it comes with a one-year domain voucher. This means you’ll get a free custom domain for one year, after which time you’ll need to pay to renew it. Pay close attention to the renewal rate when registering for the first time, so there are no nasty surprises.

Wix Email Cost

If you want your email address to contain your website’s domain name, e.g., mary@mybusiness.com instead of mary@gmail.com, you can purchase a professional email mailbox through Google Workspace.

If you have multiple members on your team, you’ll need to purchase separate mailboxes for each email address.

Wix's E-Commerce Features

There is no e-commerce on Wix’s Lite plan, so if you run an e-commerce business, or sell any products or services through your site, you will need a Core Plan as a bare minimum.

The “basic” e-commerce offer attached to the Core plan includes abandoned cart recovery and selling on social media channels. Dropshipping capability is limited to 25 listed items. The Business plan ups the dropshipping capacity to 250 products, and adds in unlimited back-in-stock notifications, a referral program and loyalty tiers. Business Elite offers “advanced e-commerce”, with users able to create multiple sites and custom API solutions. Dropshipping capacity is increased to 50,000.

There is a 50,000 product catalogue capacity across all three e-commerce tiers.

For Australian customers, Wix offers a free-to-install add-on app called “Interparcel AU”, which allows Australian Wix users to access couriers in real-time.

Wix's Marketing Suite

Ascend by Wix helps you market your business with email marketing, lead form captures, social media scheduling and more. It plugs in directly to your Wix site, so you can view insights and build automations without leaving Wix. Previously Wix’s marketing tools were only available on the top-tier plans, but now all plans, including Wix’s free version, have some marketing capability.  Depending on the plan, you have a set monthly allowance of emails to send to recipients per month. The free plan confines you to 200 emails per month, while the Core plan allows up to 5,000. You can read more about the Wix marketing suite here.

Premium Apps

Wix has more than 300 apps and business tools that you can use to enhance the functionality of your website.

You can use Wix apps to improve customer engagement and visibility via SEO tools. You can also integrate with popular business tools, such as accounting software QuickBooks and email marketing provider Mailchimp. But if you want premium apps, you’ll need to pay. You can try the free version of an app before you decide to invest in the paid version.

Keep in mind that Wix will auto-renew any subscriptions to paid apps, so if you decide to cancel, you’ll need to visit your account settings.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is Wix free?

Yes. Wix offers a forever free plan that comes with 500MB of storage. With the free plan, however, customisation options are very limited and your site, including your domain name, will include Wix branding.

How much does Wix cost?

Wix pricing runs from free to $179 AUD for the Business Elite tier. The pricing also depends on how many add-ons you buy. If you opt for the Enterprise tier, the price will be customised to your package.

Is Wix a good website builder?

Yes. Wix is very easy to use, affordable and will help anyone create a professional-looking website. As the site uses a drag-and-drop editor, no coding knowledge is necessary.

Do Wix plans come with a dedicated email account?

No. Once you have a domain through Wix, however, you can purchase a Google Workspace plan and receive a custom email address using your domain. Wix partners with Google to provide 30GB of drive space and Google Docs, Calendar, Sheets and Slides.

Is there a free trial period for the Wix premium plans?

Technically there is no free trial, although Wix plans include a free 14-day money-back guarantee, which can be treated as a free trial. Users can receive a full refund anytime within the first two weeks, no questions asked.

Can I keep my existing domain if I purchase a Wix account?

Yes. You can easily transfer your domain to Wix. After the transfer, Wix will become your domain host. This means your domain’s contact information, DNS settings and registration payments are all managed from within your Wix account.
